Medication Management
Expert psychiatric care that goes beyond the prescription — personalized, monitored, and built around your long-term wellbeing.
More Than a Prescription
Finding the right medication — at the right dose, for the right condition — is a process, not a single appointment. At Lighthouse Wellness and Recovery, our psychiatric providers take the time to understand your full picture: your history, your symptoms, your lifestyle, and your goals. We don't hand out prescriptions and send you on your way.
Our medication management services include a thorough initial psychiatric evaluation, careful selection and titration of medications, regular follow-up appointments to track your response, and lab monitoring where clinically required. We also coordinate with your therapist, primary care provider, or specialist to make sure your mental health care fits seamlessly into your overall health.
Medications can be a powerful part of recovery — not a crutch, but a tool that helps your brain function the way it's supposed to, so the other work you're doing in therapy and in life can actually take hold.
Conditions We Treat
ADHD
Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder affects focus, impulse control, organization, and emotional regulation in both children and adults. We conduct thorough evaluations and offer stimulant and non-stimulant medication options tailored to your presentation and lifestyle, including lab monitoring where indicated.
Anxiety Disorders
Generalized anxiety, social anxiety, health anxiety, and related conditions can make ordinary life feel unmanageable. When therapy alone isn't enough, the right medication can significantly reduce the intensity of anxious thinking and physical symptoms — making it easier to engage fully in treatment and daily life.
Depression
Depression is one of the most treatable conditions in medicine — but it often takes time to find the right approach. We work with you to identify medications that address your specific symptom profile, monitor for side effects, and adjust as needed until we find what genuinely works for you.
PTSD
Post-traumatic stress disorder can produce intrusive memories, hypervigilance, sleep disruption, and emotional numbing that make it hard to feel safe in your own life. Certain medications are well-established for reducing PTSD symptoms and are most effective when combined with trauma-focused therapy.
Bipolar Disorder
Managing bipolar disorder requires careful, ongoing psychiatric oversight. Mood stabilizers, atypical antipsychotics, and other medications play a central role in reducing the frequency and severity of episodes. We provide the regular follow-up and lab monitoring that safe, effective bipolar treatment requires.
Schizophrenia & Psychotic Disorders
Antipsychotic medications are the cornerstone of treatment for schizophrenia and related conditions. Our providers work closely with patients and their support systems to find effective regimens, minimize side effects, and maintain the stability needed for a fuller quality of life.
Panic Disorder
Sudden, overwhelming panic attacks — and the fear of having them — can shrink your world quickly. Medication can help interrupt the cycle, reduce attack frequency, and lower baseline anxiety so you can engage with therapy and reclaim the activities panic has taken from you.
Insomnia
Chronic sleep problems rarely exist in isolation — they're often intertwined with anxiety, depression, or medication side effects. We evaluate your sleep concerns in context and offer targeted treatment options, including non-habit-forming medications and coordination with any underlying conditions affecting your rest.
Other Conditions
Don't see your diagnosis listed? Reach out. Our providers treat a broad range of mood, anxiety, and psychiatric conditions. If we're not the right fit for your specific needs, we'll point you in the right direction.
Lab Monitoring & Safety
Some medications require regular lab work to ensure they're working safely and effectively — and we take that responsibility seriously. For medications such as mood stabilizers, certain antipsychotics, and stimulants, we order and review lab studies as part of your ongoing care.
Lab monitoring allows us to check medication levels in your bloodstream, assess organ function, and catch any concerns early — before they become problems. It's one of the ways we ensure that the care you receive at Lighthouse is thorough, not just transactional.
- Blood level monitoring for mood stabilizers (e.g. lithium, valproate)
- Metabolic panels for certain antipsychotic medications
- Thyroid and kidney function monitoring where indicated
- Screening labs prior to starting certain medications
How Medication Management Works
Psychiatric Evaluation
Your first appointment is a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation — typically 60 minutes. Your provider will review your history, symptoms, previous treatments, family history, and current medications to build a complete picture before making any recommendations.
Treatment Planning
Based on your evaluation, your provider will discuss medication options with you — explaining how each works, what to expect, and what side effects to watch for. You'll leave with a clear plan, not a mystery prescription.
Follow-Up & Adjustment
Medication management is an ongoing process. Follow-up appointments (typically 20–30 minutes) allow your provider to assess how you're responding, address any concerns, and make adjustments to your dosage or medication as needed. Most patients are seen monthly at first, then less frequently as their condition stabilizes.
Coordinated Care
Medication works best alongside therapy. If you're also seeing one of our therapists — or a provider elsewhere — we coordinate your care to make sure everyone is on the same page. We can also communicate with your primary care physician as needed to ensure your overall health is considered.
Insurance & Access
We accept most major insurance plans, including Medicaid and Medicare. A sliding-fee discount schedule is available for patients who qualify based on income and family size — no one is turned away due to inability to pay.
Telehealth appointments are available for medication management follow-ups, making it easy to stay consistent with your care without disrupting your schedule.
