Taking the First Step Shouldn't Be the Hardest Part.

Here's exactly what happens when you reach out to Lighthouse — so you know what to expect before you ever walk through the door.

How Getting Started Works

1

Reach Out

Call us at (502) 430-2041 or submit an appointment request online. If you call, you'll speak with a real person — not an automated system. If you're not sure what you need, that's fine. You can simply say "I think I might need some help" and we'll take it from there. All conversations are confidential.

2

Complete an Intake Assessment

Before your first appointment, a member of our clinical team will conduct an intake assessment — a conversation designed to help us understand your situation, your history, and what you're hoping to get out of treatment. This is not an interrogation. There are no right or wrong answers. The goal is simply to make sure we understand your needs so we can create the right care plan for you.

The assessment typically takes 45–60 minutes and can be completed in person or by phone, depending on your situation.

3

Receive Your Care Plan

Based on your assessment, your care team will recommend a treatment approach tailored to you. This might include individual therapy, group sessions, medication management, case management, or some combination. You'll have a chance to ask questions and share your preferences — your input matters.

4

Begin Care

Your first appointment is not a test. It's just a beginning. Whether you feel nervous, uncertain, or even a little resistant, that's completely normal. Our clinicians are experienced at meeting people wherever they are and helping them feel at ease.

What to Bring to Your First Appointment

A valid photo ID
Insurance card (if you have insurance)
A list of any current medications
Any relevant medical or mental health records (helpful, but not required)
A list of questions or concerns you'd like to discuss

If you don't have insurance or cannot afford the full cost of care, please let us know. We will work with you.

Can I Be Seen Remotely?

Yes. We offer telehealth appointments for eligible services, which means you may be able to receive care from the comfort of your home. Ask our team about telehealth options when you call.

Your Privacy Is Protected

Everything you share with our team is confidential and protected under federal and state privacy laws (HIPAA). We will not share your information with employers, family members, or anyone else without your written permission — with limited exceptions required by law.
